Daniel Chernilo is PhD in Sociology (Warwick University). He is currently Reader in Social and Political Thought at Loughborough University in the UK. He has published widely on nationalism, cosmopolitanism and the history of social and political thought. He has authored five books: Debating Humanity. Towards a Philosophical Sociology (Cambridge UP, 2017), The Natural Law Foundations of Modern Social Theory (Cambridge UP, 2013), La Pretensión Universalista de la Teoría Social (LOM, 2011), Nacionalismo y Cosmopolitismo (Diego Portales UP, 2010) and A Social Theory of the Nation-State (Routledge, 2007).
He has given over 70 invited lectures and courses in countries including Brazil, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Spain and Singapore. Daniel sits in the Editorial Board of Sociology and the international advisory boards of British Journal of Sociology and European Journal of Social Theory.
